Statement by Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia"

Good morning,

I would once again like to congratulate everyone on the convincing victory of the Georgian Dream.

As you know, the Central Election Commission has announced the results of the elections, according to which the Georgian Dream won by a large margin across the country. We would like to remind you of the data from 2,775 electoral precincts:

  • Georgian Dream: 47.83%
  • United National Movement: 30.69%
  • For Georgia: 7.48%
  • Lelo: 2.62%
  • European Georgia: 1.75%
  • Alliance of Patriots: 1.43%
  • Third Force: 1.31%
  • More Freedom – Girchi: 1.22%

All other parties have received less than one percent of the vote.

Given that three quarters of electoral precincts have already been counted, naturally, these data will not change substantially.

Georgian Dream mayoral candidates won in the first round in 44 out of 64 constituencies. The second round will be held in 20 municipalities.

It is especially disappointing that it became necessary to hold the second round in Tbilisi as well. Naturally, however, no one doubts that Kakha Kaladze will win this election in the end.

It is very important that Kakha Kaladze will have a solid majority in Tbilisi City Council for the next four years. Specifically, according to the CEC’s preliminary data, the Georgian Dream will be represented by at least 29 members in Tbilisi City Council.

We note once again that the convincing victory of the Georgian Dream yesterday was the victory of peace, stability, and development in Georgia.

The Georgian public has given a fitting answer to the radical forces that are built on lies and hate and are thirsty for revenge.

We promise the public that all our mayoral candidates will win the second round of the elections on 30 October.

Once again, we congratulate the public on our joint victory.
